I’ve been having a browse on Pinterest today and one of the design techniques that caught my eye was using colour blocks with stamps. I saw a few designs where a coloured design had a piece highlighted with a raised section that looked really effective. I thought I would take it a step further and have a play with a plain flower and only colour where the blocks are.
I stamped and embossed in black my Stampendous Jumbo Daisy. I did this once on the white card I had already cut to size for my 5×7 card blank and stamped two more on separate card.
Next I cut out my squares so they were in the correct position and identical sizes. I also stamped my greeting – I thought this one was perfect! It’s from Chocolate Baroque Artistic Affirmations set.
Next I mounted all the pieces and cut so each had a tiny black border.
I then coloured the blocks with Cosmic shimmer drawing inks as I knew the colours would be vibrant. I assembled the card and added a few gold gems onto the greeting as a finishing touch.
It’s a really dramatic card – I really like it! Will be playing again with colour blocking I think!
