july29Another blog challenge entry today.  This time it is for Tando Creative.  Their theme is ‘Come Fly With Me’.  It’s not essential to use their products, but as I happen to have one of their Gothic Arch pieces left over from a previous project – it seemed to be the ideal starting point.

I painted my chipboard arch with Gesso.  Next I put a mix of Distress Paints onto my non stick craft mat – Salty Ocean, Evergreen Bough, Peacock Feathers and Broken China – although pictured I decided not to use Shaded lilac in the end!   I then spritzed them with water and placed my chipboard shape into them.  Bjuly29cy dipping and swiping I got some very interesting patterns – so I dried it with my heat gun so they wouldn’t change.

So this is where I was up to….- fab background isn’t it!  This is why I love the Distress Paints!july29b

Next – onto a little shading – I applied Salty Ocean Distress Ink with Cut N Dry through a grid mask – here and there to add a little interest.

Next to give the outline some definition – so a dashed border with a fineliner.

Now for some stamping – I’ve used the friend greeting – which is a KAisercraft stamp – with Archival Potting Soil ink.  The little swirl is from the IndigoBlu Enjoy Life stamp set – stamped with the same ink.

My butterfly is from Memory Box – Kaleidoscope and Moonlight.  Thejuly29ay have been coloured with Salty Ocean Distress Ink – but then I changed my mind and coloured the top piece in Umber Promarker as it was getting lost on the background.

A final touch of some silver stickles applied delicately over the top by using my finger as a brush – to give that little bit of sparkle.

I am entering this for the Tando Creative Blog Challenge – Come Fly with Me

Do go and check out the entries – lots of fab creations!

happy crafting
