Aug10This time last week I was running an all day workshop in the shop.  One of the areas covered was Sweet Poppy Stencils.  I had an idea for a card design using the Honeysuckle stencil in white onto a deep green background and so I took the opportunity to create my design ready.  I used Dreamweaver white paste with a little sprinkle of clear glitter because I wanted a more matt textured effect than the glossy effect of the sweet poppy paste.

This morning I retrieved my panel and started to decorate.  I played around to find the order of colours for my mount and decided I wanted some texture in the background.

I ran a piece of the green card and black card through an embossing folder (its a Cuttlebug design I’ve had for years).  I then placed each in turn back onto it’s Aug10afolder and lightly ran over a Versamark pad to try and catch the raised detail.  I put it onto the folder as it is then flatter and I am less likely to apply too much ink.

I then added Antique Green Cosmic Shimmer mica to the black piece and Black Pearl Cosmic Shimmer Mica to the green piece (this ended up being far more subtle in finish).Aug10b

A final detail was to cut some flowers using my Marianne Designs die out of black card and adding some painted antique green mica to tint them.

The end result was just what I was looking to achieve.

I am starting to think about my next video tutorial.  Do you have any requests or suggestions for what technique to feature?  If you do – just post me a comment with your ideas and I can help them make my decision for my next topic!

happy crafting
