Back again with the Noah’s Ark stamp from Woodware.
Today I have worked with watercolour paints. I was clearing out a cupboard at home and stumbled across the watercolour palette I had when I was studying art for A Level (many years ago!). It’s been such a long time since I have worked in ordinary watercolour paint and I thought that this stamp was ideal to practice my skills!
The biggest challenge on this one was how many brown shades I can create – that’s the only down side to having lots of animals in one design! I mixed in yellow tones with some, pink tones with others and black and blue tones too. It was just a matter of getting a bit of variety so they didn’t all look the same.
I enjoyed painting with my watercolours, so you may well see them featured a bit more regularly from now on!
I picked out the Memory Box Big Splash border die to create the side swirls (the watery theme seemed appropriate). I kep the colours neutral to give the option of being a general baby or birthday card for a little one. The only bit I wasn’t sure of that I may have done differently in hindsight was the block end to the die – I dressed them up with rhinestones, but wasn’t sure whether I should have trimmed them off?
What do you think?
Back with something different tomorrow.
