Chocolate Baroque StampsDo you always plan your creations?  Or do you like to just pick up a few things and see where it leads you?  I tend to do both.  Sometimes I’ll just start playing either with a stamp or certain paints or inks and see where the creation flows – but other times I have a picture in my head of what I want to create and have to work out how to achieve it!

I love running workshops and demos because my customers challenge me to create something out of what I’ve made.  My favourite it when I’ve created a background which is really pretty and the customers say how much they like it – but what would I do with it?

May28aWell this piece started from that.  I was demonstrating how to use Alcohol inks with the metallics.  I worked a small strip (you can see it at the bottom) using bold colours and only a hint of metallic, and then use the rest of the card to demonstrate using a little colour and a heavy metallic so the contrast could be seen.  So then what do I do with it! …. well make it into an atmospheric skyline of course!  By stamping a tree in black and a few plants and flowers in brown at the bottom – suddenly you can see its a skyline.  So much fun to see what you can create!
