Pretty Pink Flowers #360

PaperArtsy stamps

Where has the time gone!  I’ve been busy behind the scenes and not had time to create and blog much recently, but I have a few pieces to share with you.

We had our first Inky Addicts club last weekend and it was fabulous!  We will next be meeting in August for another play day – if you are interested, just get in touch or have a look on the website for info!

PaperArtsy stampThis one I have created using a mix of PaperArtsy paints and Distress Paints.

The flower stamps are from PaperArtsy.  Short and sweet post today – hope you like the flowers!

Frayed around the edges #359

Frayed Around the Edges StampThis is so appropriate for me today!  I created this piece a little while back and when I was looking for what to blog today, I found it.  Here at Aldridge Crafts HQ, I am busy doing lots of techy work behind the scenes for introducing some new technology into the business, which means long hours at a laptop working with lots of product listings – so frayed around the edges is definitely me at the moment!

This little piece was created using a Brayer to apply different Distress Ink paints to the background.  I didn’t keep note – but to me it looks like Chipped Sapphire, Lemonade and Spun Sugar.  It gives this slightly grungy colour background so this stamp I’ve had in stock for ages and wanted one… but kept resisting.  How could I not have it when I have the perfect background to stamp her on!  I’m sure you see her featured in a few future pieces of artwork!  She is a Do-Lally Pip Frayed Around the Edges Stamp by Lindsay Mason for Personal Impressions.

June-20aTo get the words to stand out I painted a rectangle roughly the same size at the greeting in antique linen so there was a plainer base.

I actually double stamped the girl a little, but I thought actually, it all added to the effect and style of the stamp – she’s supposed to be a little blurred!

If you too like stamping, playing with paints and mixed media style work and are in Norfolk, you will like the sound of my new Inky Addicts club.  It starts on Sunday 7th June 10-3pm in Garnier Hall in Eccles.  You get a full day’s craft club, with a bit of a workshop from me to start the day and free refreshments (bring some lunch), all for just £20.  Click here to reserve your seat (you pay on the day).  There’s also be a bit of a shop for you to browse through too!  The club will then run on the first Sunday every other month.   Hope you can join me!

Playing in paint #357

Chocolate Baroque Steampunk ButterflyI haven’t used my Chocolate Baroque steampunk butterfly stamp for ages!  So whilst having my playing session with my Distress Paints I thought I would give it an outing!  The background is the paint applied directly to the card and then spritzing with water to bland.  I’ve stamped the cogs in blue paint.  I then stamped the butterfly in black directly on the background to give a guide where to place a cut out butterfly (and so the detail of the antennae were stamped and there was a shadow underneath the lifted wings).   (more…)

Golden Tree #356

IndigoBlu Treemendous StampLoving this background.  I thought I would experiment with Distress Paints onto glossy cardstock.  I put the paint onto my craft mat  (I used lots of shades of blues and greens in vertical stripes running from blues to greens) and spritzed with a little water and then dabbed the card into the paint.  As it is glossy card, the paint sits on the surface so you get these fabulous patterns.  It immediately made me think of blue skies and green fields and so I thought the IndigoBlu Treemendous stamp would be perfect to use on it. Firey Flower Sprays #355

PaperArtsy Mini Stamps

You can tell I’ve rediscovered my PaperArtsy stamps and Distress Paints can’t you!  This background was a bit of a happy accident.  I had started it all in pinks and burgundy shades and then very cleverly put it down in a bit of mermaid lagoon blue on my mat – so I used my fingers to add more mermaid blue in different places and spritzed with water to blend and ended up really liking the result! Blue Floral Edges #353

Chocolate Baroque stamps

Another simple alcohol ink piece again today.  Sometimes its nice to work in simple colour palettes.

The stamps are both from Chocolate Baroque – the words from Artistic Affirmations and the flower border is from the Floral Edges set.  This is such a pretty border and I love picking out all the details in the flowers. (more…)

I don’t feel like working today #352

PaperArtsy StampsI was having a bit of a creative session in the shop, playing with Alcohol Inks and PaperArtsy stamps and somehow created this little piece of artwork.  I kept it all very simple – greens and beiges for the background onto glossy cardstock.  Then I’ve used the PaperArtsy JOFY Daisies stamp to add the flowers.  The numbers in the background are from a apr18aPaperArtsy set I’ve had for years – as is the appropriate message – I don’t feel like working today – which was perfect that particular day! Tree-Mendous Tag #351

IndigoBlu Treemendous stamp

I’ve been playing with IndigoBlu Flitterglu and flakes for this blog project.  This is the sample created for the Flitterglu flakes onto acetate workshop I had scheduled for this week (It had to be postponed, so message me if you want to know the new date!).

I started with Distress Paints on my craft mat and applied it to a Stix2 White Tag.  Next I stamped my IndigoBlu Treemendous stamp in black onto the tag. (more…)
