Surprise surprise… another alcohol ink piece!… I’m on a flow now A different colour palette today of hot and fiery shades of reds, oranges and yellows.
I started with glossy card and Stamped my two flowers in Versamark ink before applying alcohol inks in red pepper, orange and yellow. (more…)
More samples from my recent alcohol ink workshop. They are such a great medium to work with and you can create the most amazing backgrounds.
I worked onto glossy cardstock with a mix of colours – I think purple twiight, currant and a bit of orange and a lot of blender. I kept reworking over the areas to give a more muted finish. I then dripped some blender directly onto the card to add some light spots.
Next I wanted to add some background stamping so I chose the flower and the number border from Creative Expressions Art Flower set and stamped in Archival Plum.
This fabulous steampunk boot stamp is from Stampendous called ‘Click heels’. I have stamped the boot and the words in Black Archival ink. Finally I stamped the Dream in Colour – from the Art Flower set in black too. I then waited for all the archival ink to dry before added my usual white gel pen highlights. I love this stage – so relaxing sitting picking out details with the pen!
Love this piece!
I held an alcohol ink workshop last Sunday and one of the exercises I always do with students new to alcohol inks is to get them to create a really vibrant spotted background to work onto. This can be the hardest of backgrounds to tackle and can be very daunting because they look fabulous as a background, but how can you put focal points over the top bold enough to stand out. (more…)
My friend had her birthday party today as a vintage tea party, so I wanted to make her a birthday card to match the theme. I thought my lady stamp in the vintage 50s style dress would be perfect and I just had a fancy for colouring her in a black and white polka dot dress.
The stamp is from Creative Expressions called Pure Elegance. I stamped and embossed her in black powder and then used my fineliner to draw little circles all over the skirt. I coloured around the circles to give her the polka dot dress. I used Promarkers to add some colour to her body and a little shading on her shawl and hat. (more…)
I am really liking working onto these hearts. I cut them from greyboard and they are a nice large area to give plenty of options for decoration.
For this heart I have painted with gesso first and then used a mix of yellow and green acrylic paints from Eco-Green to create the background. To add some pattern I have applied some of the colour using a brayer. (more…)
Oops – no blog post yesterday! I was running a Zentangle workshop at the shop last night and by the time I got home I realised that I had left my blog photos on the shop laptop – oh well – I’m back again today!
This is another sample I have made for my workshop next Thursday (a couple of places still available – contact me to book).
I started by painting the background with Eco-green paints and then used the Art Houses Umount stamps from Creative Expressions to decorate.
I’ve also used the creative expressions bubble stamp in the background too
the dots around the outside are Liquid Pearls – they add a nice bit of dimension to it. (more…)
Today’s project is a sample ready for a workshop I will be holding next week. We will be creating a heart shaped panel for the home using inks and paints. For this first sample I decided on a coastal theme.
I wanted to have a soft blue and white colour theme for this heart, so I started by painting with Eco-Green Acrylic Paint in White together with Periwinkle from the same range.
I’ve used stamps from the Creative Expressions UMount Coastal set. This set features a lovely lighthouse. It also has lots of little elements to build up a scene like clouds and rocks and birds. (more…)
Well it was a morning of much head scratching, lots of counting to ten (and then some!) whilst I set up the new blog. I am liking the bold clean lines of the new template and now that it is part of my website I’m hoping that lots more crafters will be able to find me too! I would love to know what you think of the new design.
So after my techy morning, it got to the stage at lunchtime where I just had to create something… an ideal escape for a little while away from the laptop!
I have just had a delivery of card. I have been using it sparingly for the last couple of weeks because I was down to the bottom of my box – but hurrah – a delivery of 1000 sheet of A5 white matt and 1000 sheets of A6 high white glossy and some white linen card to play with too and for some reason when I have a huge stack of card on my desk it makes me feel just that little bit more creative! I had run out of glossy – so that was my first grab. It had to be something big and bold! (more…)
