Chocolate Baroque Magnolia Tag #394

Chocolate Baroque Magnolia StampDistress Ink tag again today.  Along the same theme as my last post I made this in a recent Chocolate Baroque flower tag workshop.  I love the colours of this one!  They just blended so well and are vibrant and yet soft.  The main colour is Mowed Lawn together with some Salty Ocean.  I started by inking the background to get colour blocks to have a base.  Then I stamped in the same colour inks using the Studded Lattice stamp.  I think I also added some leaf detail with one of the patterns from Seasonal Fragments.  Then the flower is the lovely Magnolia Stamp and the words from Artistic Affirmations.

I used the waterbrush to blend the colours on the flower – using mainly blue – but the water activated the green underneath to give a beautiful blend.  Once the tag was dry I added some white highlights with the White Sharpie marker.

I was really pleased with the result – this one will definitely be mounted onto a card blank :-)

Chocolate Baroque Fritillary Tag #393

Chocolate Baroque Fritillary StampTrickiest bit about this blog post is spelling Fritillary hahaa… even when I checked it it just didn’t look right!  I’ve been playing with  Distress Inks again – so the tag was inked with ink using blending sponges (I didn’t note the colours – but looks like Fossilised amber and probably Ground espresso with a bit of Mustard seed to brighten it up).  The flower stamp is the Chocolate Baroque Fritillary stamp and the words are from the Chocolate Baroque Artistic Affirmations set.

Chocolate Baroque Fritillary StampYou can see that fab brickwork in the background – which is from the Rustic Fragments set – ideal if you like your textured backgrounds!  When I first stamped it I thought it looked way too dark – but once I started putting the flower on the top and added the Red colouring it really worked.  Final white highlights and dotty border with good ole white sharpie marker and it really gives this tag some drama.

Oh an extra note – the wording is all on one stamp – Art with everything – I just inked up the words separate – wiped clean the rest of the stamp (you can also use copy paper to block to make sure you don’t stamp the other words) – and voila you can split your large phrases to fit on a little tag.

Blue PaperArtsy Flower #387

paperartsy blue flowerI recently attended a training weekend with PaperArtsy and then time has just whizzed past and I haven’t had a chance to do anything with the stamps I got on the day.  I’ll be soon getting these new designs in stock – once time allows!!  So a quick and easy tag idea for you.  I started by stamping and embossing my flower stamp in White embossing powder (have you seen we now stock loads of Wow embossing powders – they are fab!!)… sorry – easily distracted…back to my design.  paperartsy blue flower2So, once you have embossed, then go over the top with distress inks – I’ve used Blueprint Sketch and a mix of the other paler blues applied with my applicator for smoother blending.  A final addition of some ink through a stencil adds a bit of further detail.  Finally take a soft cloth and buff up your white embossing to remove any distress ink resting on top of it.
Its a fun technique that can be ideal for a quick card idea.

Chocolate Baroque Colour Challenge Peony Tag #384

Chocolate Baroque Peony StampIt’s been ages since I’ve done a blog challenge – and the Chocolate Baroque colour challenge caught my eye!  So here is the first entry – and I have another one to follow on tomorrow (yes I know.. no blogs for ages then two all at once!)

So I’ve used Distress Paints – Fossilized Amber, Antique Linen, Antique Bronze, Aged Mahogany along with Distress Inks – Fossilized Amber, Aged Mahogany.

I’ve given the tag a base colour with the Amber, Linen and Bronze paints using a brayer.  Once dry I used a Tim Holtz mini stencil with the Amber and Mahogany distress inks to apply a little texture to the background and then stamped with Amber onto the Chocolate Baroque Open Weave Stamp.  Next I stamped by Chocolate Baroque Peony Stamp in Black archival and the Art word (Chocolate Baroque Artistic Affirmations).  Chocolate Baroque Peony StampNext was the leafy border – I tried to stamp this in mahogany – but it wasn’t bold enough (probably because my 10 year old ink pad needs re-inking!!!) – so I overstamped using Plum Archival – that was much better!  The stamp is from Chocolate Baroque Floral Edges.

I then coloured my Peony using green shades of Koi Brush pens and added a final touch of highlighting with my Sharpie White Poster Paint pen.

If you would like to join me in making a tag like this – we will be doing a colour challenge Chocolate Baroque tag in my next workshop on Thursday 26th May 5-7 at the shop.  Contact me to reserve your seat!

Back tomorrow with the next tag for the challenge!

Colourful Cornflower #368

Chocolate Baroque Cornflower

Lots of Chocolate Baroque stamps on this little piece of artwork.  The background has been created using Distress Ink Pads applied with Cut n Dry Foam.

The stamps I’ve used are all Chocolate Baroque – Cornflower, Artistic Affirmations and the Seasonal Fragments set (perfect for background texture).

Chocolate Baroque Cornflower StampI’ve also used a mask in the background to add some additional detail and then of course, my favourite white gel pen to make the cornflower pop out from the background.

Caution Trees! #366

Chocolate Baroque Patchwork Trees StampThis piece was created as part of the workshop at the last Inky Addicts Club.  We focussed on using Distress Ink Pads with Chocolate Baroque stamps.  The background is created by applying Distress Ink with Cut n Dry foam.  I’ve added on some stencil detail too.

Chocolate Baroque Patchwork Trees StampThen the elegant tree from the Chocolate Baroque Patchwork Trees stamp set has been stamped in Archival Black and then coloured by picking up some Distress Ink from my crafting mat with a water brush and painting in the colour.  A final bit of highlighting and a drawn border finishes the piece.  It’s obviously a scary tree, so caution is required! :-)

If you would like to come and join us at the next Inky Addicts Club – it’s open to any level crafter who likes to play with inks, paints and stamps.  Our next club is on Sunday 9th August, 10-3pm at Garnier Hall in Eccles.  Reservations for seats are now being taken.  It costs £20 for the day (bring your own lunch) and we have a mini workshop – this month its Distress Paints with PaperArtsy stamps.  You then spend the remainder of the day crafting on your own projects, or playing with the workshop supplies.  I also take a mini shop with me too, so its an ideal opportunity if you can’t get to the shop to stock up on some goodies.  Just call or email to reserve your seat!

Zentangled Daisy #363

Stampendous Jumbo DaisyA quick little piece of artwork today.  I found this daisy stamped onto a Distress Inked background in my craft stash – one of my creations at a demonstration.  The colours were so striking I thought I would have a play around with some zentangling detail around the edge.  To give it a dramatic look, I stuck to just one pattern.  A few white highlights and its all ready to put onto a card or into my art journal.  The stamp is from Stampendous – the Jumbo Daisy.  Artwork doesn’t have to be complicated – the most simple designs can be most effective!Stampendous Jumbo Daisy

Oh deer…. #331

Sheena Douglas Stencil Deer

today’s project has been created using the fabulous new stencils from Sheena Douglas.  This one is called Deer and is just lovely!  I started with a Cosmic Shimmer ink mister background and then once dry I worked over the top using Cut n Dry foam and Distress Ink – Black Soot.  I worked very gently and slowly to build up the crisp edge detail so that the definition was not lost.  A simple line dash border was enough to finish this ATC size panel.
