A lovely vintage feel to today’s project.
I’ve cut the Tattered Lace Car and the Special Day greeting out of a deep burgundy shade of card. My Beige card has been embossed with an Embossalicious Antique Keys folder.
I mounted my car and greeting onto my panel and felt it needed a little something else – so I found some pretty border and corner peel-offs to edge the panel. (more…)
I am really into the blog challenges this week – another one today for The Male Room. Their theme is a masculine card on a Geometric theme – and you all know my love for Zentangling.. so I thought I would base my card around this!
I started by die cutting four identical squares from white card and then started playing with some patterns (with thanks to Pinterest for some inspiration!) (more…)
Back in my comfort zone today with a bit of Faux Leather. This has been made using Sheena Douglas’ Faux Leather technique transforming Kraft card into fab leather like material.
For this project I have created the faux leather panel and then run it through the Cuttlebug with the Crafts Too tree embossing folder. I then allowed to dry completely – in fact I put it aside and came back to it another day so I was not tempted to work on it too early!
It has a lovely rough texture to it so perfect to add Distress Inks to as you know it will catch on the texture.
I’ve used only two colours – Peeled Paint – a shade of green around the outside with Cut n Dry Foam and then with the ink pad directly to the card over the tree (more…)
We don’t always have a stamp of everything we need – and sometimes if you just want to make a few cards, you don’t always want to buy a stamp just for that odd message.
This was the case with these two cards. I wanted a bold Father’s day message for the centre of my cards – so I typed up a sheet of different words and messages in Word and printed them out in a couple of different lettering styles.
I’ve used my Spellbinders Nestabilities to cut out the shapes and mounts and then used a mix of different backing papers to create a background for my card. A little Distress Ink around the edges of my card and my main topper adds a little depth to the design. Then a finishing touch of some Liquid Pearls just gives it a little detail. (more…)
I haven’t used my Penny Black Zoophabet stamps for ages! This is the perfect occasion to dust them off and get stamping. This set of stamps has been around for a few years – and they are still available (I can get them in stock to order). Each letter of the alphabet has a character on it – so they are really nice for making personalised cards and fun funky cards too.
I stamped out my DAD word and coloured using Cosmic Shimmer Drawing Inks in nice bright colours.
I kept the backing very simple – by picking out a spot to mirror those on the letter D and as my A had stripes, I went for a different pattern on the background.
Such a simple design – but looks really effective. (more…)
Isn’t it funny how you get in the habit of using certain tools and products for certain jobs? I’m a double-sided tape girl… my adhesive of choice – and it has to be Stix2. Today… I ran out. Yes – I know – I run a craft shop – that stocks half a dozen different sizes of double sided tape… but that doesn’t mean that I remember to bring any home! The irony is that second to my double sided tape – I use Cosmic Shimmer PVA glue – for anything that I don’t use tape for. It’s a fabulous glue – a really strong bond – I use it to stick on all my fiddly bits – die cut letters, gems, charms. However… adjusting to use it to stick down my backing papers instead of double-sided tape..ooooh no… just doesn’t feel right – I know it will stick..but … oh no – where’s me tape? Is it just me… or are you the same? (more…)
Thought I should get started on some Father’s day cards as it is fast approaching!
I don’t often make cards with toppers, but I knew I had lots of fab Kanban Men’s themed ones, so had a rummage and found this car and matching backing card.
I kept the layout very simple, just a few black mounts as it didn’t need too much fuss.
I’m in the process of creating some more cards for Father’s day – my craft desk is currently covered in all sorts of goodies that I have pulled out of my stash to play around with… be interesting to see what I come up with! I know many of you struggle with men’s cards, particularly if they aren’t into a hobby, but hopefully I will come up with a couple of suggestions for you this week. (more…)
