Happy 55th Wedding Anniversary #400

woodware lace heart stampsPost number 400 deserved a special occasion – so I thought I would show you the card I made for my parents’ recent 55th wedding anniversary.

This card features the gorgeous Woodware Lace Hearts  ADS108 stamp set.  This stamp has such detail to it and it’s the perfect stamp to use with your coloured embossing powders.

woodware lace heart stampI started by using the Wow Pink lady embossing powder with the largest heart from the set and trimmed them out.  I took a piece of pale pink card and cut it to fit my 5×7 card blank and I used a flower from the Woodware Flower Heads JGS381 stamp set and the Wow Pastel Pink embossing powder to add a little detail to the background.

The final stamp I have used on the horizontal bar is from the Woodware Just to Say JGCL560 set – which is full of handy greetings!

This card would be ideal to make into a wedding invitation too – you could vary the colour combinations to match your colour theme.

Hope you like the card – and big congratulations to my mum and dad on an amazing achievement!

Going Bright with Wow! #398

heatembboldI’ve been playing with bold bright embossing powders from Wow!  This design features the Flower Head stamps from Woodware along with Blue Tang powder, Olive powder, and Pink Lady powder.  The word stamps are also Woodware – the Just to Say set.  I’ve made a couple of variations of this card – can you spot the differences?

heatembbold2These bold flowers are easy to cut out so are perfect for layering.  I have finished each flower with a rhinestone centre.

Just For U Vintage style #392

Woodware Just For U StampBack with the paper piecing technique again today. Today’s stamp is the versatile Woodware Just For U (FRS239) stamp.  Their large word range is perfect for this technique and there are lots of other designs available.   This time I’ve picked a vintage style of paper – and this would make a great birthday card for a man or a father’s day card.  This technique is so easy to do.  Simply stamp your design onto a backing paper and then stamp each of the letters onto different coloured and patterned papers, cut out and stick over the top.Woodware Just For U Stamp

I recommend using the Stix2 Glue Stick – as this gives enough of a strong bond, but when you first stick it down there’s a little bit of sliding room to make sure your piece is perfectly lined up and its less messy than using a PVA which if you apply too much you may make your papers bubble.

Go raid your stamp stash and see what you can find to use with this technique….. its very satisfying to do!

Woodware Special Bird Paper Piecing #391

IWoodware Special Bird Stamp ran a lovely workshop at the shop featuring Woodware stamps and the paper piecing technique.  It’s a technique I haven’t done for ages, but was inspired by all the shares recently by Woodware’s facebook page and we had such a lot of fun!  It’s a great technique to use up all those little scraps of pretty papers we all seem to hoard.  At the same time it breathes new life into stamps you have in your stash too.  Lots of the woodware stamps are ideal for this technique with their bold clear designs they are easy to cut out.  You’ll see a few more samples shared in my next few blog posts with ideas for men’s cards too.  This stamp is Special Bird (FRS282) and there is a similar Daisy bird stamp too.Woodware Special Bird Stammp

We also have lots of 6×6″ paper pads in stock too that are perfect for a co-ordinated design such as this pretty Lavender one.  At only £3 each they are fantastic value!  You can see all our paper pads here.

If you are a stamping fan – we have the talented Veronica Pell who is on the Chocolate Baroque Design Team demonstrating in the Attleborough shop on Saturday 18th June 10-3pm.  She’ll be giving you lots of inspiration on using Chocolate Baroque stamps.

Sparkling bird #344

Woodware Special Bird StampBack with the birdy today.  This time I have created a sparkling bird using the Woodware Special Bird stamp.  Start by stamping your design onto your card.  Cut a piece of A4 double sided sticky sheet from Stix2 to size and stick over the top of the design.  Next peel-off the top layer to reveal the sticky sheet and cover it in the Stix2 glitter.

Mar8aNext take your Promarkers and colour over the top of your glitter – don’t worry, it doesn’t damage your pen nib, just remove any glitter that clings.

This gives the most amazing bright coloured glittery finish – the picture really doesn’t do it justice!

Drawing Inks Birdy #342

Woodware Special Bird Stamp

Today’s project features the Woodware Special Bird stamp.  This is such a lovely bold design to play around with as it allows lots of room for different colouring styles. Woodware Special Bird Stamp

This time I have used my Cosmic Shimmer Drawing Inks to colour in the design.  I love the way these waterbased ink blend together.  They come with a little fine brush and so are ideal for colouring teeny tiny things, but one big sweep of the brush and you can colour a bigger area too.  We are a bit low on the colourful packs of these in the shop at the moment – but will be restocking soon!

Don’t forget if you are local, we have our third birthday celebrations on Saturday 28th March and Annette from Stix2 and Woodware will be joining us from 10-4 to do lots of demonstrations.  It is free to attend – we hope to see you there!

Circle Birdy #339

Mar2

Back again with my little birdy friend.  This piece was a happy accident!   When I was creating my display board for Thetford I had a small square gap – not big enough for a standard square card, so I wanted to design something to fit in!  I had been playing around with the coloured glitter technique, but my first attempt when a bit wrong when I put my hand on the top part of the design and smudged it (more…)
