I have been busy creating a card for a customer order today along a baby card theme. I’ll post up my creation in a couple of weeks time, just in case the recipient is a facebook follower! However, while I had all my baby products on the workdesk, I thought I would do some more cards for the shop.
I have had this Woodware Noah’s Ark stamp for a while, but this is the first card I have made with it. I thought I would stick with the animals in their natural colours for this time of stamping – which in itself offered a bit of a challenge!
I started by stamping the image in Versamark Ink and heat embossing with a detail black embossing powder. I decided to colour in using my Promarkers, so I rummaged through my collection and gathered together all my browns, greys, beige and pale blue tones to see what I had to work with.
I started with the giraffe, he’s my favourite! I tried to make each animal a slightly different mixture of browns, pale colours and greys. I used the browner greys for the bear and a touch of ginger for the lion.
Next I coloured my two little birds and my fish with blues and the wave at the bottom too.
So the animals would stand out, I coloured the ark in greys. I used the blender pen quite a bit throughout to help blend my colours together, but left some quite rough and raggedy (like with the bear) to give a furry impression.
I didn’t have a suitable colour to mount it on – black just made it look dull, so I cut a piece of white card as my mount and used a bright blue Promarker to colour the edge which works much better as it really brings out all the blues in the picture.
It was mounted onto a 6×6″ card blank. I think this would make a lovely card for a birth, but also as a birthday card for a little one too so I left it without any words on the front.
