Beautiful Polka DotsMy friend had her birthday party today as a vintage tea party, so I wanted to make her a birthday card to match the theme.  I thought my lady stamp in the vintage 50s style dress would be perfect and I just had a fancy for colouring her in a black and white polka dot dress.

The stamp is from Creative Expressions called Pure Elegance.  I stamped and embossed her in black powder and then used my fineliner to draw little circles all over the skirt.  I coloured around the circles to give her the polka dot dress.  I used Promarkers to add some colour to her body and a little shading on her shawl and hat.

The greeting is from Stampendous and as my friend is a fellow bead shop owner, I thought the sentiment was ideal as we like to surround ourselves with beautiful things!

Beautiful Polka DotsThe decision to do the white back panel in two pieces was complete laziness!  I had only A5 card on my craft table and didn’t have the energy to go searching for an A4 piece!.. but actually once I cut the two pieces I thought if I added a dot embossed black horizontal bar, then the stripes and the spots went together quite well.

A addtions of some black gems gave that final bit of twinkle.

The funny thing was – when I arrived at the tea party to give Gill her card, she was dress in a lovely vintage style black polka dot dress!…. I must have had a sixth sense!

Happy birthday Gill!

happy crafting
