Shabby Pink tagPink….. Jane creating something is pastel  pink?  yes I know.. a bit out of character for someone who is pinkist like me!

….. why I hear you ask… well.. it was the craft desk challenge of course.  You can’t move from your desk, you have to create your project with what is around you.  Luckily, I set myself this challenge before I tidied up so I had lots to choose from!!!!!!!  So a quick rummage in my card scraps box and I found a piece of colour core pink card..mmmm fancy creating a tag…..mmmm how about some sanded polka dots.. yes.. starting to form a plan.

I have recently treated myself to the Tim Holtz Sizzix Tattered Florals die, so I thought I would cut a selection of flowers to sand and distress.

I cut the tag freehand and then the pink mat to match and embossed it with a polka dot folder and then sanded the dots.  I edged both tags with black ink and stuck together.june23b

I had an offcut of some mister sprayed bright pink card, so that would provide a nice contrast.

Now the greeting….  I had my Beautiful stamp on the desk from my previous project so I thought I would give it a go using a mask to just stamp beautiful.. this is how I did it with a post it note (You could also used the Stix2 Masking sheet which would be a bit more precise).  I stamped it onto the note first of all, then cut out around the word beautiful.  I also drew around the outline of the stamp so I could line it up easily.  I then stuck the note onto my pink card and stamped in brown and it worked!

To ink or not ink the flowers was my dilemma.  I knew it would look effective with a brown or black edge.. but decided to leave it un-inked in the end and keep it pastel themed.

For my final finishing touch I did cheat and leave my craft desk as I knew I had some pretty brads that would be perfect for the flower centre… but other than that I stuck to my challenge.

I now challenge you…… create something with what’s lurking on your craft desk.  I’ll let you sneak off for an embellishment or two.. but the main components need to be what you have to hand… go forth and create and be sure to share what you come up with!

I’d better now go tidy my desk….. might be a while…..if I don’t blog tomorrow.. send out the search party……

happy crafting

Jane
